Rico van Wyk Exposing 2 JMPD Officers for Kidnapping.
An explosive public rift has erupted at the heart of national law enforcement after a former high-profile supervisor took the stand to drop a devastating bombshell about the alleged involvement of his own officers in a high-stakes kidnapping and extortion plot.

Speaking before a panel of commissioners, the former shift commander unleashed a detailed, scathing account of an illicit operation that unfolded under the guise of official duty.
The former prominent officer in the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department shocked attendees by detailing how a surveillance video surfaced on an internal crime prevention communication channel, exposing two of his own subordinates engaging in criminal activity on a public street.
The witness openly declared that on September 29, 2021, while serving as the shift commander of Victor Echo 2, he attended an off-duty parade with officers under his command when a shocking video was circulated on a crime prevention group chat.
The footage depicts a dramatic roadside encounter on a public street involving multiple vehicles, including a white BMW 3 Series positioned directly behind a BMW 4 Series.
The driver of the BMW 3 Series approached the BMW 4 Series to speak with its driver, while a passenger stepped out, walked to the front left of the BMW 4 Series, and inspected the vehicle’s license disc.
The driver of the BMW 4 Series was instructed to step out of his car as three additional men entered the frame from behind the BMW 3 Series to assist in searching him.
Another individual approached from a vehicle parked directly in front of the BMW 4 Series, while one of the men made a failed attempt to open the boot of the BMW 4 Series.
Events took an even darker turn when the driver of the BMW 3 Series forcibly removed a young child from the BMW 4 Series, carrying the child toward a white Volkswagen Tiguan parked ahead.
The driver of the BMW 4 Series was subsequently forced into the rear seat of his own vehicle before all four vehicles—including an Audi Q2—drove away from the scene.
Upon reviewing the footage, the shift commander immediately recognized two of the men as Officer Johnny Mfhatle and Officer Banzi Gujula, both of whom served under his direct supervision.
The shift commander confronted both men, noting that Officer Johnny Mfhatle was wearing the exact same blue pants, jacket, and black headwear, while Officer Banzi Gujula wore the exact same blue pants, black top, and white bucket hat that they wore during their shift parade later that day.
When directly questioned about whether they were participating in an official police operation, neither Officer Johnny Mfhatle nor Officer Banzi Gujula denied being the individuals featured in the video.
However, both men maintained absolute silence and failed to offer any lawful explanation or official report regarding their involvement in the incident.
Under standard operating procedures, officers are strictly required to record their daily activities, location details, stopped vehicles, and official actions in their personal pocketbooks and submit daily statistical logs to their supervisor.
Neither Officer Johnny Mfhatle nor Officer Banzi Gujula filed a report or created any pocketbook entries accounting for the traffic stop or the removal of the child.
Furthermore, the witness confirmed that facial coverings are strictly prohibited as part of the official uniform, and non-uniformed service attire is strictly restricted to specialized flexible shifts targeting drug-related complaints.
Follow-up communications on the group chat officially confirmed that the recorded incident was an active investigation into a kidnapping and extortion scheme.
The shift commander personally launched an independent inquiry, contacting a security officer who posted the original video to obtain the victim’s residential address.
Upon visiting the victim at his home, the shift commander learned that the victim had been intercepted by an unmarked white BMW 3 Series equipped with blue lights while picking up his child from school.
The victim revealed that several men held him and his child hostage, forcing him to hand over approximately 5 million in cash inside a black bag from his residence to secure their safety.
Residential security camera footage showed three unidentified suspects entering the home through a side gate while another vehicle entered through the garage, before the group exited the house carrying the black bag containing the cash.
Additional official statements provided by Constable Dana and Constable Nhlapo independently confirmed the positive identification of Officer Johnny Mfhatle and Officer Banzi Gujula from the surveillance footage.
