A Night of Terror in Katlehong as Gunmen Strike at Church Doors Leaving Family Living a Nightmare

A peaceful evening devotional gathering collapsed into sheer terror as a prominent former broadcast figure vanished during a violent ambush in broad daylight.
Former SABC sports presenter and renowned music rights activist Owen Ndlovu became the victim of a ruthless, targeted hijacking and abduction right in front of a house of worship in Katlehong.
Law enforcement agencies instantly initiated a massive, high-stakes manhunt for three unknown suspects following the catastrophic event that unfolded on September 15, 2026.
Standard evening calm shattered around 8:00 PM when Owen Ndlovu arrived at the church property to pick up his wife.
The couple’s routine reunion turned into a horrific crime scene the moment his wife approached their parked vehicle.
Out of the darkness, three unidentified men ambushed the pair with lethal efficiency, with at least one assailant brandishing a deadly firearm.
The armed attackers physically overpowered Owen Ndlovu‘s wife, shoving her violently aside as she stood helpless near the vehicle door.
In a terrifying display of brute force, the assailants grabbed Owen Ndlovu and shoved him into the back seat of his own Ford Ranger bakkie.
Without hesitation, the armed suspects seized control of the vehicle and sped away into the night with Owen Ndlovu trapped inside.
Losing all trace of the vehicle, desperate family members and witnesses immediately alerted law enforcement as a massive search operation swarmed the surrounding districts.
Investigators tracking the escape route made a chilling discovery when they located Owen Ndlovu‘s high-powered Ford Ranger bakkie abandoned in the Walkerville area.
The discovery of the empty vehicle confirmed the worst fears of investigators, as Owen Ndlovu was nowhere to be found near the scene.
With Owen Ndlovu remaining completely missing, specialized police units intensified ground operations and tactical searches to locate his whereabouts and hunt down the perpetrators.
South African Police Service spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi stepped forward to issue an urgent public plea for assistance to break the case wide open.
“Anyone with information that could assist police in locating the victim or identifying and arresting the suspect is urged to contact the crime stop line on 08600 1011 or provide anonymous tip offs on MySAPS App which can be downloaded on any smartphone”, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi declared.
